Welcome to Diya Welfare Society

Mrs. Mahmuda Ayub belongs to a respectable and well recognized family of Mansehra. She enjoyed a glamorous army life up to 1980. When her husband retired. To keep up the family traditions and make her life more meaningful, she started random Charitable works in the form of helping poor students and widows through arranging expenses from within the family in Pakistan and its members abroad. In 1999, she formalized these works under the banner of NGO, which she named and registered as "DIYA".

DIYA WELFARE SOCIETY has been functioning for over twenty years and was formally registered in 1999 with the Provisional Government of N.W.F.P, by the Society's President Mrs. Mahmuda Ayub. This formalizes these activities and provides a base to expand social welfare actives in an organized and structured way.

In twenty years of its existence, DIYA WELFARE SOCIETY has shown very positive results, specially considering in the limited resources and funding on which DIYA WELFARE SOCIETY operates. All funding is voluntary donations by individuals, there is an active effort to expand the donation base and raise further funding, which will enable an accelerated pace of service in the coming years.

    By delivering results during the last five years has earned recognition in the donor community. For example since 1998 some DIYA WELFARE activities has been coordinated with Pakistan Children's Academy NGO in Pakistan and Mrs. Mehmuda Ayub is also now the President of the said NGO for Mansehra District.By delivering results during the last five years has earned recognition in the donor community.

    Dowry Support by Diya

    Diya Welfare Society supports the poor and the needy families in Mansehra district. Diya caters all the expenses of the dowry and other marriage expenses for the poor and the needy girls. More than 200 girls have been married and are now enjoying their healthy and happy life. Diya will keep supporting the needy families with your support and kind heart.

  • Zia Ur Rehman Tells his story

    I am from a small village near Mansehra showed all the promises of a brilliant engineer and an individual with drive to succeed and serve mankind, but my family situation would not enable me to achieve my goals. DIYA WELFARE has been supporting my education for four years at Peshawar Engineering University, from Where I graduated in 2000 with a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, now gainfully employed.

    Kamran Says;

    I am so thankful to DIYA Welfare Society that it  supported My education for four years,  I finished my B.A, in Commerce (M. Com) in Abbottabad."

    Sadiqa Yousaf received seed money to start a shop, while Abida received sewing machine to start sewing teaching School.

    Mrs. Mukhtar Miskin's expenses for appendicitis were covered by the DIYA WELFARE SOCIETY.

    A daughter of sharecropper wanted to study beyond high school but for family resources did not permit so. She was provided with the assistance through her college years and now she is a teacher in the local school.

    During the last few years approximately 70 individuals have received assistance to partially or fully cover their education expenses.

    Nine (9) girls were provided marriage assistance (i-e dowry, reception expenses etc.).
